Who Needs to Report?
The reporting requirement applies differently based on the date of your accreditation approval:
- Accreditations Approved, Renewed, or Upgraded on or After 7 April 2024
- Employers must notify INZ within 10 working days if an AEWV migrant worker leaves their job.
- Failing to report within this timeframe could result in the suspension or revocation of your accreditation status.
- Exception: If the AEWV holder has less than one month remaining on their visa, notification is not required.
- Accreditations Approved or Renewed Before 7 April 2024
- Employers with accreditation approvals before this date are encouraged but not required to inform INZ if an AEWV worker departs.
- When these employers apply for accreditation renewal, they will be required to meet this new reporting standard.
Why This Change?
The New Zealand government’s updated employer reporting requirement is part of a broader effort to strengthen the integrity of the immigration system. By ensuring that INZ receives timely updates on AEWV employment changes, the policy supports better workforce oversight and helps ensure compliance with visa conditions.
What This Means for Employers
Staying on top of this new reporting requirement will be essential for maintaining accreditation status, particularly for employers with recent accreditations. By actively engaging with INZ about AEWV employment changes, accredited employers can avoid disruptions in their accreditation and continue employing migrant workers in line with immigration regulations.
