    • Cook Islands or Niue (not traveling on a New Zealand passport)

Exemption Period

  • The exemption is valid for applications made between 3 November 2024 and 31 January 2025

Why This Change?

The policy aims to help meet New Zealand’s workforce needs during its busiest period by facilitating the entry of low-skilled Pacific workers. It acknowledges the lack of accessible English testing facilities in some Pacific nations.
