From 12 August 2024, you can apply for a New Zealand Transit Visa online through the Enhanced Immigration Online system. This change eliminates paper applications and associated fees, offering a faster and easier process with real-time tracking.
Chinese Group Transit Visas
Group Transit Visa applications for Chinese nationals will continue using the paper process for now. Immigration is working on an online option and will make the changes later.
Changes for Fijian Nationals
Starting 4 September 2024, Fijian nationals can apply for a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) instead of a Transit Visa. The NZeTA is simpler to obtain either online or via the free app. If you have a current Transit Visa, it will remain valid until it expires.
Fijian nationals visiting, studying, or working in New Zealand will still need the appropriate visa. Additionally, those traveling through Wellington or Christchurch airports on Fiji Airways will need a Visitor Visa due to the lack of transit facilities at these airports.
